Tents
There are all sorts of tents you can sort out for yourself.
- A rule of thumb is to get a tent that will fit twice as many people that are going to be sleeping in it.
- No limit on size but obviously you can't go crazy and get something the size of the Carling stage
- There are loads of places to get tents from:
- Remember to account for all the stuff you are taking.
- You are better off with several small tents rather than a few large ones. Easier to carry and a better atmosphere.
- If going with a loved one - DO NOT SHARE A TENT WITH ANYONE ELSE!
- Don't put locks on the tent - chavs will think there is something to steal
- If you are tall (I am 6' 4") then you should think of going in nothing smaller than a 3-4 man tent or you will be uncomfortable.
- Try and get a waterproof one with 2 layers.
Sleeping Bags
- Simply - get one that fits you and is warm.
- To save space, get one that rolls up into a tiny space
Comfy extras
- Pillows - just tie up to your rucksack. They don't exactly weight loads.
- Air bed or something similar. Take it if you can manage it. Will make the difference from sleeping on the hard ground.
- Chairs - you can buy them there for £5-£10 and they truly make the festival easier to enjoy.
- Gazebo - makes for a better atmosphere, keeps rain and bottles from hitting you.
- Stove/BBQ - can buy from shops or take with you. Enjoy warm food burnt to a crisp or the standard pot noodle.
Where to Camp?
- You can pretty much camp wherever there is grass unless you're in the main arena or lucky enough to get to the VIP sections. Obviously - don't camp on the roads.
- Try to stay away from the main roads as there will be a lot more noise and a lot more theft is acrried out on the tents next to the roads.
- Stay away from toilets and water taps. Noise, people and queues.
- There are a few different camping areas you can use:
- ORANGE
- WHITE
- GREEN
- RED
- OTHER: There are other car parks around the place, some even way down the river that were put up by Mean Fiddler. We encourage you to stick to the ones that Mean Fiddler have put on, unless you know someone with an underground secure car park with 24/7 security.
- To find one of the above camps, there are tall polls with suspended coloured flags from them and large boards indicating what colour area you are in and what 'zone'
- http://www.tangerinefields.co.uk/ - Leeds Festival/Mean Fiddler recognise these lot as alright so no worries. It's all about pre-booking stuff that you can pick up there!
- You can't camp next to your car but you can get away with it. We don't encourage you try though. Try and enjoy the festival experience!
Where is the Best Camp?
- COMING SOON!
- Unless you get there early, you might not have much choice.
- You might be best off camping somewhere quiet (sides of green/yellow and white) and then going elsewhere to party!
I have 'X' ticket, can I camp?
- You can only camp with a weekend ticket regardless of how may single day tickets you hold.
- You can come in on Friday, see bands and just stay in your mates tents (let's face it, they're not going to find you) over the weekend. If you leave though, you won't be allowed back in.
- We strongly suggest, if you have day tickets, to come on that day and to leave on that day. Anything else is down to chance and luck.
Fires
"Fires are not allowed in the main arena. Bonfires are not permitted anywhere, however knee-high fires, one-pace wide, will be allowed in the campsite, provided they are looked after responsibly and should not be in a position that is a danger to any structure or person and not blocking any roads.
Please note:
Following one festival goer suffering serious and permanent disfigurement when a gas canister was thrown on a fire last year, there will be a zero tolerance policy on this type of behaviour. Anyone seen to have, or even thought to have, thrown a canister or can on a fire will be evicted from the festival immediately."
- You can buy firewood there - for a bag around the size of a normal supermarket plastic bag (just over) it'll be around £5.50
- There are stewards and fire points around. If some dick is messing around too much, notify them.
General
- Get to know your neighbours - might come in very handy. Looking after your stuff and sharing stuff.
- Familiarise yourself with surroundings ASAP.
- Don't piss anyone off - they'd just follow you and mess up your camp.
